5 iOS 10 Features You Should Know
iOS 10 was officially introduced during the released of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It is the newest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. You can download iOS 10 on your iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5 and up, iPad mini 2 and up, iPad Air and up, iPad Pro 9.7 and 12.9 and iPod Touch 6th generation. Before you decide whether to update your Operating System or not, you first need to know some iOS 10 Features. I assure you that you will enjoy using iOS 10 features.
Here are the 5 best iOS 10 features that have been changed, added or redesigned.
The biggest change in iMessages is that it has now its own apps and sticker packs. It includes apps for image and video searching. You can also send your most recently played Apple Music tracks and can easily add more apps by hitting the four dots icon at the lower left of the screen. Your favorite emojis will be three times the size.
In addition, you can scan a message you’re about to send and highlight all the words that could be replaced with emoji. Tap them one by one and they’ll transform into the appropriate pictures. You can also send a handwritten message by turning your iPhone into landscape mode.
2. Improved 3D Touch
Apple first introduced 3D Touch in iPhone 6S last year. But the problem is that Apple didn’t pay nearly enough attention to 3D Touch and the Taptic Engine in the 6S. Now, iOS 10 has an improved 3D Touch. There are now 3D Touch actions dotted everywhere. The most useful is hard-pressing the “X” icon in the notifications tray to clear all. In the updated Control Center, you can use 3D touch to change the brightness of the flashlight.
The improvement to Siri is that it was opened up to other developers. This means that you’ll be able to activate non-Apple apps and functions via voice control. Before, Siri has weakness for not hearing your voice properly, and capabilities were limited. That changed in iOS 10. Now, there is a Siri support in apps such as Slack, Uber, Lyft, Pinterest, RunKeeper and more. You can use Siri to book in Uber and Lyft cars using voice commands. Everybody is not perfect that’s why Siri still have some accuracy issues, but at least now Siri is useful.
Maps have a new design in iOS 10 with controls easier to access than before. Just slide the map upwards from the bottom and suggested destinations will appear. You can also sub-filter when searching for nearby businesses such as restaurants. The Apple map in iOS 10 can show where the traffic is, and can suggest alternative routes. Apple map can also be used to locate your car. Siri automatically detects when you’re driving and drops a pin in the location where you stop, so that you can find it easily. Another use is to avoid tolls. You can now choose to avoid toll roads.
5. Useful Control Center
The redesigned Control Center is one of the highlights of iOS 10. You will see the Control Center when you swipe up from the lock screen. Before, its functionality is all in a single screen; now, it spans in two separate pages. The first page contains WIFI, Airplane mode, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb and screen-rotation lock, together with buttons for managing AirPlay Mirroring, AirDrop and Night Shift. However, the flashlight and timer are still located at the bottom. While the second page is where all media controls are handled.
Not all works are perfect, so expect some bugs in iOS 10 and its new features. But the most important here is that the improvement is better than the old version.
